CASH X ROSE 2016 LITTER

What is a "blue tri"?

This color is a dilution of the base color black tri and is caused most often by a mutation at the D locus which is either recessive and carried by both parents (MLPH) or via incomplete dominance carried by only one parent. Unlike the double recessive merle or excessive white in Australian Shepherds, this color carries no health defects and while this puppy will never be bred/shown as the color is unacceptable in our breed, she is as genetically healthy as any other pup in the litter and will make a wonderful pet/performance puppy for a family. We would never choose to cull this puppy simply based on a color that is perfectly acceptable in Border Collies and which causes no health issues for the dog. However for those backyard breeders who advertise the "rare blue tri", please be aware that this is a color mutation that should not be selected for as it is not recognized in our breed.
